Dr Coates is a Research Fellow with the Centre for Youth Substance Abuse Research. He also holds clinical and research psychology appointments at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Alcohol and Drug Assessment Unit (ADAU). His professional interests lie at the intersection of psychological research and practice. Dr Coates completed a combined Masters (Clinical Psychology) and PhD at the University of Queensland supported by CYSAR in 2018. His thesis was titled ‘Personalised treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder: Identification and intervention of target mechanisms’.
